It is my pleasure and honor to serve as the principal at John Tyler Elementary School. With 21 years experience in the field of education, I am confident that I possess the knowledge and qualifications to ensure that all students receive a quality education that enables them to become productive and responsible citizens.  I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to Tyler as we work together to ensure the academic and social success of our students.

My mission as principal will be to always put kids first! My belief is that all students can learn, and it is our job to meet each student where they are while ushering them to avenues of success. I also want all children to love school! My passion for elementary education, as well as the enthusiasm of my staff, will always be evident. In a collaborative effort, we want students to thrive in all ways possible.

Please remember, your child’s academic success requires teamwork! It is essential that our parents and community members are our partners in learning.  I have an open door policy and I believe it is my job to ensure we are providing the framework and foundation for that relationship.  Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance in any way.  It is going to be a positive and engaging school year at Tyler!  We look forward to working with you and your child to ensure a productive and safe learning environment that promotes the highest levels of student success.

I am honored and excited to serve as the new assistant principal of John Tyler Elementary School, as well as work alongside Principal Shelly Spain. It is my goal that Tyler will be a school in which all students receive a high-quality education and the community works collaboratively to realize great opportunities for our children. I look forward to bringing what I have learned from my years of teaching and leadership in Atlanta, GA, and Cambridge, MA to Tyler to work relentlessly for our students. I will work to ensure that all of our students are able to achieve at high levels of academic mastery, build strong character around principles of responsibility and kindness, and live with a joyful love of learning.

As a graduate of Hampton City Schools, I know quite a bit about the city and the district. However, I am eager to know more about Tyler’s specific successes and challenges and I look forward to working in partnership with the families, staff, and community of Tyler. Please consider my door “always open” in order for you to help me get to know the community and school, as well as to facilitate you getting to know me.  It is only by working together we will be able to realize the best school for our students.

I am excited to embark on this journey and very much look forward to getting to know each of you and your children as we work to create new opportunities for our students.
